What does pink mean to me?
Pink is the colour of happiness. It reminds me of fairy floss, those pink clouds of sweetness, cuddly toys so soft and fluffy and beautiful babies. Pink is soft and pretty. It identifies gender, pink for girls and blue for boys. The colour pink can also alter your mood having a calming effect.
Pink is a combination of red and white. Red represents passion and power, whereas white is pure and virginal. Pink is delicate and considered feminine. There are so many shades of pink seen in nature, from a flower to a sunset.
In this body of work, pink creates a soft feminine aesthetic that is both pleasing to the eye and radiates an ambience of calm. It can be considered a bit kitsch and therefore not taken seriously, but on a more serious note, the pink ribbon is an internationally recognised symbol of hope and awareness in the fight against breast cancer.
A colour of hope!
